Rabbi Michael Schiffman Interview

One of the great things about attending Messianic conferences is that I get to meet fascinating believers from all over the world.  At the Messianic Leaders Roundtable (MLR) in Phoenix this past November I met Rabbi Michael Schiffman and he agreed to be my guest via a pre-recorded phone interview.

At Long Last -- Rabbi Jan Rosenberg

I have tried to have Rabbi Jan on air with me so many times -- he is a VERY busy man!  But recently we were both at the Messianic Leaders Roundtable (MLR) in Phoenix, and he finally agreed to sit down with me and record an interview!

Rabbi Jan has been actively involved in the Messianic Jewish movement for well over 40 years. In January 1993, he and his wife Marlene became leaders at Beth Zion Messianic Synagogue in Jackson, New Jersey after serving for 16 years as members of the internationally known Messianic singing group, Kol Simcha (Hebrew for Sound of Joy). They were also members of Congregation Beth Yeshua in Philadelphia, PA for nearly 20 years, serving in various leadership capacities.
Jan was born and raised in a Conservative Jewish home in northern New Jersey. In his high school years, he and his brothers began to move towards a more observant Jewish lifestyle.
In his quest for an intimate personal relationship with the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, Jan found himself deeply involved in a powerful series of unusual events that ultimately led him to the realization that Yeshua was indeed the long awaited Messiah of his people.
After coming into a knowledge of Messiah in 1971, then in 1975, Jan moved back to Philadelphia, where he began to attend Congregation Beth Yeshua. That same summer, while attending Messiah ’75, a clear vision of Messianic Judaism was deeply sown into his heart.
After years of intensive personal study, and Messianic Yeshiva courses, Jan received his full smikhah (ordination) as a Messianic Rabbi through the International Alliance of Messianic Congregations & Synagogues (IAMCS) towards the end of the 1990s.
Jan is also the publisher of the very popular Passover Trilogy Messianic Haggadah, (in English and Spanish), and started the Lashon Hara-Free Zone button campaign (to stop gossip, slander and the evil tongue). He has also published the Word As A Way of Life Bible Reading Program, with his brother David (Messianic Rabbi of Congregation Shuvah Yisrael in East Wiliston, NY).
.Jan is also an accomplished singer/songwriter, and since coming to Beth Zion, has produced six musical CDs. With a wide-ranging gift for musical storytelling, he shares the truth of Yeshua through Jewish eyes in word and song (available at iTunes and RabbiJan.com).

Enjoy a special program featuring many of his wonderful songs!

Pastor Sam & Heather Walker

What would you do if your house and all your possessions burned down?   I recently met Pastor Sam & Heather Walker from Paradise, California .  Pastor Sam leads Congregation Harei Yeshua in Paradise, CA. The Walkers lost their home in the recent fires and are still praising the Lord. Their life has been turned upside down yet they still want to serve Adonai with their whole heart. At this time they are waiting to find out if their building and Torah scroll are safe. Our prayers are with them and all the families that were affected by the raging fires.

UPDATE:  The building and Torah Scroll were saved!  Hallelujah!

Sherri Friedlander Interview

Nothing happens by coincidence!   I went to a women's retreat in Savannah and "happened" to sit at the same table as Sherri Friedlander and her two adorable daughters.   I learned about "The Strong Road" radio program, hosted by Sherri, her husband and a friend and we had a wonderful time of fellowship.

Besides The Strong Road they are founders of Be One Ministries.

https://www.beonetoday.com/

Here is their story in their own words:

Our journey together began at the University of Georgia. We met and dated throughout college and were married a month after graduation. We each received a BS in Hospitality Management in 1990. After graduation, we dedicated the first year of our marriage to a leadership program called Master's Commission in Phoenix, Arizona. We both received a Christian Worker's License and since, I (Jeff) received an ordination by both the Assembly of God International Fellowship as a minister and the International Alliance of Messianic Congregation and Synagogues (IAMCS) as a Messianic Rabbi.

We have worked hard to build our life together with a dedication to full-time service for the Kingdom of God. We have 4 children, Morgan, Ben, Amanda, and Rachel, who we raised to have a passion for God and a  joy in their spirit. Our dinner table has always been filled with laughter, endless movie quotes and an extra seat for the many guests who have joined us.

Be One Ministries was born out of our desire to be a voice of unity in the Body of Messiah. We see the enemy has a plan to divide the body and we strive to do everything we can to stop that.

Sherri grew up in a Gentile home, came to love the Jewish people and together she and her husband Jeff have a great ministry together.   Hear her wonderful story and enjoy the music of Marty Goetz, Sally Klein O'Connor, Joshua Aaron, Rachel Boskey,Corry Bell, Marty Goetz, Baht Rivka Whitten, Jonathan Settel and The Scheps.

Corry Bell Interview-3

So excited to speak with Corry Bell again.   What a delightful woman of God.   She has been through a lot but continues to hold onto God.

Enjoy the music of Lev Shelo and a powerful interview interview!!!

Here is a little bit about Corry in her own words:

I was born into a very secular home, the only girl among 4 children. By the time I was 18 I had no moral compass, although I received my first Bible and asked Yeshua into my heart at Sunday School when I was 6. However, without proper discipleship, I wandered in my faith and ended up living with my boyfriend during my senior year in high school. We were planning to marry, but when those plans fell through, I spiraled into a deep depression and thoughts of suicide plagued my mind constantly. Then, one Sunday morning, my friend “dragged” me to a Calvary Chapel. The music, the casual attire, the atmosphere were nothing like the stuffiness of church I had al-ways experienced. When the pastor gave an altar call, I responded immediately. For the next 22 years, I became plugged into my church, serving, attending Bible studies and participating in worship ministry.

One December day in 2002, I had a conversation with my mom about her Dutch family herit-age. I asked her, “Isn’t your maiden name, Brouwenstijn, (pronounced Brownstein) Jewish?” My mom couldn’t relate to being Jewish as none of her family members were practicing the faith and were not teaching our culture or heritage to their children, but she admitted that it was. Given the horrors of war upon the Jewish people she had witnessed and escaped from in Hol-land, being Jewish was not appealing. Soon afterward, it became increasingly clear to me that God wanted me to immerse myself in the culture of my ancestors. Soon after attending on a regular basis, I was asked to join the worship team at Beth Emunah Messianic Syangogue, lead-ing the worship team for 10 years, and have been serving in our Messianic Jewish community now since 2003. I began a ministry in 2010 called Lev Shelo which means, “His heart” in Hebrew. Our music has hit the global stage with tours to Germany, Holland, Switzerland, France, Belgium and Israel. I am also a freelance journalist, writing for the international publication, The Messianic Times.

Mishael Porembski Interview

I met a delightful woman at the Messiah Conference in July.   Mishael Porembski turned tragedy into a ministry after become a widow at the age of 36. She created a ministry titled "180 Your Life."

180 Your Life empowers widows, bereaved women and children to craft a life they love after loss by strengthening body, mind and spirit in active, faith-based small groups. Through retreats, training and mentoring, bereaved women and their families can leverage their loss into leadership by getting strong and helping others.
Her Story:
My name is Mishael Porembski. In 2007, I became a widowed mother. In just five short months, I lost my husband to suicide, gave birth to our second daughter, and lost my mother to breast cancer. Although very depressed, I craved a holistic grief empowerment program that helped younger widows, like myself, and helped our children recover from the losses we experienced. I was tired of asking, “Why did this happen to me?” and wanted to take action, healing my mind, body, and spirit through healthy, wise choices. I asked some widowed friends to join me, and our lives changed dramatically. Not finding a program like this, I developed *180 Your Life* to provide fresh, dynamic support teams to better empower bereaved women and our grieving families.
Great music from Jonathan Settel, Karen Davis, the Schleps, Sue Samuel, and Deborah Kline & Vince Iantorno.

Victoria Sarvadi Interview

Thanks to my buddy Jonathan Settel, I learned about this fascinating woman and had the privilege to interview her!   She has authored a book called "Just a Little Girl," about her death experience -- she was pronounced clinically dead but lived to tell the story!

Here's more about Dr. Sarvadi:

Dr. Victoria Sarvadi received her Th.M. and Th.D. in 2005 from the former Center for the Study of Biblical Research in Glendora, California, accredited at the time by the State of California. A certified minister in the Hebraic Christian Global Community since 2000, she is a frequent contributor to Restore! Magazine, a publication of the HCGC. She has been a speaker for conferences, congregations, women’s ministry groups, Bible studies, and at the Vision for Israel Sukkot Conferences in Jerusalem, Israel.

As a featured guest on national and international radio and television programs, her appearances on both the Jewish Voice and Marcus & Joni Lamb Show have been seen worldwide. Her Precious Gems teachings on the Jewish roots of Christianity have appeared in numerous publications and will soon be available online at VictoriaSarvadi.com. She has six children, nineteen grandchildren, and is married to Paul Sarvadi, Chairman, CEO, and Co-Founder of Insperity, Inc., a world leader in business and human resources services based in Kingwood, Texas. As co-founders of the Nathaniel Foundation, the Sarvadis philanthropic contributions support numerous charities in the U.S. and abroad. All proceeds from Just a Little Girl will fund the Nathaniel Foundation.
When eighteen-year-old Victoria dies in the ICU and encounters an angel that gives her a prophetic mandate from God, her insatiable quest for spiritual enlightenment begins. As compelling as any contemporary novel, Just a Little Girl is the debut memoir of an inspiring woman with keen perception and exceptional resilience. This dramatic true story is a roller-coaster ride through supernatural experience, denominational enlightenment, and a teenage marriage that not only survives the loss of a child but thrives through unbeatable odds.
Shining a fresh light on the theology of a Jewish Jesus, the author deftly weaves the history of the Christian faith from its genesis of the first century to the present-day Greco-Roman Christianity-all the while giving us an up close and personal glimpse of an extraordinary life.
A devoted wife, mother of six, and grandmother of nineteen, Victoria refuses to succumb to age and limitations. Far from “just a little girl,” Victoria Sarvadi’s unconventional journey from teenage mom to Hebraic scholar and teacher will captivate and consume you
from start to finish.

Jonathan Settel Interview-3

How wonderful to have Jonathan Settel back on Bagels and Blessings!   Yes, it's the man with the big booming voice - you hear him open up the program every week!   He is a dear friend and a strong believer in Yeshua!   You will hear some of my favorite Settel tunes and a wonderful interview where he discusses a little bit of this....and a little bit of that!   Also this show features some NEW music!

Such a deal!   Check him out on http://www.settel.org/!
