Carol Calise Interview

This week I played a pre-recorded interview with Rabbi Carol Calise.  Rabbi Carol and her husband Michael co-lead Beth Emanuel Synagogue located in Holbrook, NY on Long Island. The Calises have two children, Josiah, who is 20 and Abigail, who is 17. Michael is from a Sephardic Jewish background. His grandmother was raised in a rabbi’s home in Turkey before immigrating to the United States. Carol is from a Gentile background and came to faith at the early age of six. As a single woman, she took the Covenant of Ruth and began to live a Jewish lifestyle in 1980. After living in Israel for a year on a kibbutz, she was invited to join the staff of Beth Emanuel working as Dr. Ray Gannon’s assistant. She has been ministering at Beth Emanuel for 32 years. She received her Master’s from NYU in the Department of Judaic Studies with a concentration in the Ancient Near East. In 1992 she had completed all her coursework towards her Ph.D. when she had to stop due to an illness and has not had the opportunity to resume those studies. Currently, she is writing a seven year Shabbat School curriculum for children. Besides her responsibilities at Beth Emanuel, she also teaches a course in the Jewish Studies program at King’s University entitled, “Mothers in Israel-Women of Valor”, speaks at women’s retreats, and is available for ministry in local congregations. Her passion is to see Jewish people come to faith in their Messiah. She loves to preach the Word and to see lives changed and transformed.

Rabbi Jim Appel in the Studio Again!

It was great having Rabbi Jim back in the studio!   Today we talked about the significance of Shavuot and Pentecost.   There is a difference between receiving the Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh) and being filled to overflowing with it.   You'll love it!

Also great music from the Schleps, Jonathan Settel, Sue Samuel, Zemer Levav, Daniel Kopp and Sarah Liberman!

Rabbi Jim Appel has been the spiritual leader of Congregation Shema Yisrael since 1996 and a Jewish follower of Yeshua since 1977. He is ordained by the International Alliance of Messianic Congregations and Synagogues.

Rabbi Jim previously worked for Xerox Corporation in Webster, N.Y., for 24 years as an optical engineer and engineering manager. He holds more than 45 patents in the areas of copier imaging systems and laser printing. Rabbi Jim received a bachelor's degree in optical engineering from the University of Rochester in 1967 and a master's degree in physics from the University of Southern California in 1970.

Rabbi Jim decided to follow Yeshua after a long spiritual search. He grew up with parents who taught him that God did not exist and organized religion deceived and oppressed people. In 1967 after completing college, Jim became disillusioned with life as an atheist. He rejected his parent's teachings and began his search for spiritual reality. This search took him into the world of mind-altering drugs and yoga meditation, and ended with a dramatic encounter with Yeshua the Messiah, who revealed himself to Rabbi Jim in the privacy of his bedroom without the assistance of any other person.

Rabbi Eric Tokajer-3

Another fun interview with Rabbi Eric!   Here is some background info:

Rabbi Eric Tokajer is the rabbi of Brit Ahm Messianic Synagogue in Pensacola, Florida. He is also the publisher and director of The Messianic Times and an author of three books, Oy! How Did I Get Here?, Transient Singularity and his newest book, about to be released, With Me In Paradise.

He will be discussing his newest book which is based on some of the final words of Yeshua while He was upon the cross sharing a pattern for walking in the full blessings and promises of God. They will also discuss a very important project that The Messianic Times is currently orchestrating, producing a completely Hebrew digital edition of the print paper which will be offered for free to Israelis.

Rabbi Eric was raised in a traditional Jewish home, became agnostic in his teens due to a lack of answers to important questions. After high school he joined the U.S. Navy, and while in the military came to faith in Yeshua as his promised Jewish Messiah. Over thirty years have passed since the day that changed his life for ever, and since then he became a Messianic Rabbi, has helped plant numerous Messianic synagogues and is now running The Messianic Times.
