Myriam Levy Chernoff Interview

Earlier this week I had the opportunity to chat with Myriam Levy Chernoff, wife of Joel Chernoff and VP of the Messianic Alliance of Mexico.   We had a great conversation and she shared her story of coming to faith in Yeshua.

Myriam was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. She came from a broken family, her mother left when she and her siblings were small children. This suffering caused her to want nothing to do with God, she had no interest at all in Him.

But in 1992, when she was 21 years old, a friend of her father’s invited them to a Messianic Synagogue. Levy Chernoff says, “It was there that I knew for the first time that God loved me and that He had plans for my life, my heart was deeply touched, and I learned  about who Yeshua was and why we need a Messiah, and my life was transformed. The best thing that has happened to me is to have given my life to Yeshua!!!”

Very soon after she also understood her call to share this beautiful message with her Jewish people, and since then that has been her priority in life! In the years since that fateful visit to a Messianic Synagogue her life living in Mexico has been about sharing Yeshua with the Jewish community. After becoming a believer in 1992, she became a member of the Yeshua Ben David Messianic Synagogue in Guadalajara and she worked as a real estate agent.

After becoming a believer she became a member of the Messianic Jewish Alliance of Mexico (AJMM). Later she became a part of the leadership and has served a few times she president of the organization. Levy Chernoff currently serves the AJMM as vice president.

Since 1992 (every 3 months) Levy Chernoff has written articles for the magazine “Chalutzim," the official voice of the Messianic Jewish Alliance of Mexico, which can be read at www.ajmm.org.mx.

In 1992, she began to attend “Mashiach” (the Messiah Conference),  the National Conference of the AJMM and has never missed one since!

In 1997, she became a vice president of the International Messianic Jewish Alliance (IMJA), and is still serving at the moment as one of the vice presidents.

In 2000, she went to Israel and worked as a volunteer for a few weeks in Ebenezer Home in Haifa, which is a home for elderly people that are Messianic believers.

In 2007, she visited Argentina, and for two months she shared about Messiah every day with Jewish non-believers. I gave each of them a book from Rabbi Paul Liberman, who at that time was was the Executive Director of the IMJA. It was a wonderful experience, most of those she ministered to were very open to know about Yeshua. She is still in communication with all of them, some have since become believers!

In 2015, she married Joel Chernoff, the General Secretary of the MJAA, and she is thankful to God to be so blessed!

Today's show is full of great music by  Joel Chernoff, Zemer Levav, Jonathan Settel and Liberated Wailing Wall.

Patrick Lumbroso Interview

Wow....great music today from the Lumbrosos!   You will love it!   Also I shared a pre-recorded interview with Patrick Lumbroso.   Here is his info:

Patrick Gabriel Lumbroso was born in Paris, France, a descendent of a long line of the Lumbroso Marrano family who have an extensive Jewish history.   He was a dedicated member of  Zionist Youth Groups in France from an early age leading up to the time of his Bar Mitzvah at the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem.  Eventually  Patrick made “Alliya” as a young teen where he did his studies at an Ulpan farm/school for young immigrants.

Still seeking, he befriended a young man on a trip to Europe who shared Isaiah 53 with him and taught him about Mashiach. This was a turning point on his spiritual journey for Yeshua.

Patrick met and married his wife, Christina, while in France, and they spent years abroad in Christian outreach from Eastern Europe to S.E. Asia. They have six grown children and presently reside in the USA. In addition to running a Torah study group in Oregon and spending much of his time teaching the Hebrew roots of Christian faith, he also teaches French and Hebrew  privately and in an alternative school.   He and his wife also compose and play in their Messianic/Israeli music band called "The Lumbrosos."

Patrick Gabriel and Christina Lumbroso sing original and traditional Sephardic Jewish music in a Chassidic style. Theirs is a dynamic rendition, with harmonious vocals and stirring lyrics.

Hugh Nemets Interview

Recently I met a lady at a prayer meeting and when she found out that I am a Messianic Jew and host a radio show she said "you have to interview Hugh Nemets!"   Well the rest is history.   What a riveting and inspiring interview!   Hope you enjoy it!

Hugh Nemets grew up a secular Jew on Miami Beach, Florida, in a well-to-do, but dysfunctional family. He spent the first nearly thirty years of his life in the unsuccessful search for identity, meaning, emotional connection and love, not knowing that everything he sought would be found in the person of Yeshua the Messiah—the One the Christians called Jesus Christ—when he least expected it.

Nemets has experienced many life-and-near-death experiences and has walked through a spiritual holocaust, both before coming to know Yeshua/Jesus and after. His face-to-face encounters with an angelic being in Heaven convinced him of his life purpose—to deliver a vital message from God to us all.

Nemets is a husband, father and grandfather who enjoys spending time with his family. His family recently moved to Jerusalem, Israel. He is the author of Dead Jew Walking and blogs at www.hughnemets.com.

Vinu Goldberg Interview

Today was the first time I ever aired an interview of someone who was raised in the Hindu faith and came to know Yeshua!

You've heard many interviews with Rabbi Ron Goldberg, now hear from his "better half," Vinu!

Vinu was raised in a Hindu family in Oneonta, NY. When she was a teenager, Vinu took a job at Burger King. Although it was not the place you’d expect to find someone from a Hindu family, God was clearly leading her steps.

Vinu began a friendship with Theresa, a Christian co-worker at Burger King. Theresa was going through a very tough time in life, but had a peace that caught Vinu’s attention. Also, one day at work many people talked to her about a special event at a local park. Vinu had no idea what this event was, but since so many people talked about it, Vinu attended this special event.

The stories Vinu heard that day opened her eyes to what Yeshua did for her. As a result, Vinu began a journey with Yeshua that continues to this day. In 1992 God arranged Vinu’s marriage to Ron Goldberg, a Messianic Jewish rabbi working at Congregation Shema Yisrael.

Enjoy the music of Jonathan Settel, Paul Wilbur, Israel's Hope and Joel Chernoff!

Rabbi Jim in the Studio!

Once again I welcomed Rabbi Jim Appel to Bagels and Blessings.   We had an interesting discussion about why some Jews are secular, whether or not the Bible is really the inspired word of God, and the High Holidays!   The discussed the Messiah and how Yeshua is in the center of all our holidays, and of course we mentioned some great books written by Rabbi Jim.

Here's a little bio:

Rabbi Jim has been the spiritual leader of Congregation Shema Yisrael in Rochester, New York since 1996 and a Jewish follower of Yeshua since 1977. He is ordained by the International Alliance of Messianic Congregations and Synagogues.

He previously worked for Xerox Corporation in Webster, New York, for 24 years as an optical engineer and engineering manager. He holds more than 45 patents in the areas of copier imaging systems and laser printing. Appel received a bachelor's degree in optical engineering from the University of Rochester in 1967 and a master's degree in physics from the University of Southern California in 1970.
Rabbi Jim decided to follow Yeshua after a long spiritual search. He grew up with parents who taught him that God did not exist and organized religion deceived and oppressed people. In 1967 after completing college, Jim became disillusioned with life as an atheist. He rejected his parent's teachings and began his search for spiritual reality. This search took him into the world of mind-altering drugs and yoga meditation, and ended with a dramatic encounter with Yeshua the Messiah, who revealed himself to Rabbi Jim in the privacy of his bedroom without the assistance of any other person.

He is the author of "Messianic Judaism Class, Teacher Book," "Rosh Hashanah, Yom Teruah, The Day of Sounding the Shofar," and "Yom Kippur the Day of Atonement," all available at Amazon.

Jasmine Andrews Interview

I had a great talk with Jasmine Andrews, author of "The Sullied Bride."   Jasmine Deanne Andrews is a believer in Yeshua and she has a very romantic disposition. She envisions Yeshua as a gallant warrior returning for His bride. Her Bible studies have led her to investigate why marriages fail to meet brides’ expectations and to develop teachings necessary to restore women’s hopes and dreams about matrimony.  Jasmine Deanne Andrews is Hampton University graduate, author, filmmaker and activist.  She seeks to empower women through literature and art.  Her book Sullied Bride is now available at Barns & Noble and Amazon.com.

Judith Benhamou & Linda Miller Interview

Wow, TWO for the price of ONE.   Today was a double blessing -- I had both Judith Benhamou and Linda Miller in the studio!

Judith Benhamou is an elder at Congregation Shema Yisrael and head of the prayer ministry, and Linda Miller is the leader of our Women's Ministry.  We had a lively conversation about the Spirit of God that is moving upon the women at Congregation Shema Yisrael. Some topics we discussed were getting to know the heart of God, listening for His voice, the importance of prayer and worship, and understanding our purpose and calling as daughters of Zion.

Rabbi Ron Goldberg 2016

How exciting to have my dear friend Rabbi Ron Goldberg back in the studio!

He's definitely one of my favorite guests!   Ron was raised in a Jewish family in New York City. He began sneaking out to church during his senior year of High School. A friend then gave him the “forbidden” New Testament to read and Ron soon discovered that Jesus really is the Jewish Messiah. After coming to faith in Messiah Yeshua (Jesus) his parents thought about having a funeral for him, instead they sent him to a rabbi for deprogramming and intensive counseling!

Ron's relationship with his parents was very difficult for several years but giving them grandchildren helped restore their relationship. Ron and his wife Vinu are an inter-faith couple with 5 children.

For 31 years Ron has served at Messianic Congregations and spoken at churches and Bible study groups teaching Christians about the Jewish roots of our faith and how to share the Good News of the Messiah with Jewish people.

James and Gayle O'Hare Interview

What a joy to speak with these two believers in Yeshua!   Today's show featured some of their wonderful songs and a fun interview too!

James and Gayle O'Hare have been actively involved supporting Israel since the
1980's.  Strong believers in Yeshua (Jesus), believing it is important  to
LISTEN (SH'MA) to what the Word of God says concerning Israel and her
future. Disobeying His word brings judgment and severe consequences.
No one should pressure Israel to divide His land. (Joel 3:1-2). The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob gave the land to his SEED and Elohim's Covenant is everlasting.

Our journey to this point began in 1983. We have walked an increasing Faith revelation which led us to the greatest act of Faith; OBEDIENCE (Gen 15:6, Gen 26:5, Rom 4:1-3,Heb 11:8)! This has liberated us to a desire to SHEMA (hear and obey) as we move with the Moedim (appointed times of God) as the Light guiding us. We prepare our hearts for this Divine reunion for the return of our Bridegroom, Yeshua our Messiah! We are stirred in our hearts with a passion to share this revelation and truth via teaching and music.

Raymond Brooks Interview

Today I interviewed Raymond Brooks, a Jewish man who found his Messiah!

Raymond grew up in a traditional non-religious Orthodox home where they kept the high holidays out of respect for his maternal grandparents. He had his Bar Mitzvah but never really felt a connection with God within the synagogue. He felt it was a place where people went to socialize and prove how Jewish they were. Unless you understood Hebrew, the service was unable to be followed.

After Raymond’s Bar Mitzvah, he rebelled and high holidays were like a chore rather than enjoyable to him. The only good point he took from them was that he got the day off school.
In 2010 after a 12 year struggle with drug addiction, Raymond tried all he could in his own strength to give it up but failed on numerous occasions. His mother invited him to NYC for 10 days if he agreed to not smoke dope for the duration of the time. So with this agreement, Raymond went to NYC. During his stay, Raymond’s brother was serving on a Jews for Jesus summer campaign and invited them to one of their Shabbat meals. Raymond accepted with the understanding that they would not talk to him about Jesus. While there, he felt emotionally touched by the love he was shown, and they prayed for him to give up the drugs for good.

Towards the end of his stay in NYC, Raymond became scared to go home and fall back into the same habits as the previous 12 years, so for the first time in his life he decided to pray. He felt he was being drawn towards Jesus and the love he was shown during that Shabbat meal in New York. So he said to himself “ok I'm going to give this Jesus a chance” and he asked his brother what he needed to do.

Together they prayed the prayer of repentance and throughout the next year Raymond read the new testament for himself. At the end of his reading, he came to the conclusion that this was a very Jewish book, and he couldn't understand why most Jewish people were forbidden to read it. Most importantly, Raymond realized that it wasn't actually him giving Jesus a chance, but He was offering him the chance of an eternity in unity with the God of Israel. So on understanding the gospel he was really delivered!

Since that time Raymond attended theological school and completed his Masters Degree. Three years ago Raymond’s father became terminally ill with lung cancer, and Raymond cared for him and led him to the Lord seven days before he passed away.

Two weeks after his father’s passing, Raymond met his fiancée who God brought from Israel to his house in London for a Shabbat fellowship event. The two plan to marry in three weeks and then Raymond and his bride plan to make Aliyah.

Jonathan Bernis Interview-July 2016

Wow, so excited to once again interview Rabbi Jonathan Bernis!

A Jewish Believer in Yeshua (Jesus), Jonathan Bernis is President & CEO of Jewish Voice Ministries International (JVMI). Jonathan has worked on the forefront of world evangelism since 1984, taking the Good News of Israel’s Messiah to the far reaches of the earth, to the Jewish People, and also to the Nations.

Today, as President & CEO of Jewish Voice Ministries International (JVMI), and theassociated organizations in Canada and the United Kingdom, Jonathan directs all aspects of the ministry, including the weekly television program Jewish Voice with Jonathan Bernis, which airs throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia.

JVMI’s mission is two-fold: Proclaiming the Gospel to the Jew first, and also to the Nations (Romans 1:16), and equipping the Church—providing education about the Hebraic roots of Christianity, the Church’s responsibility to Israel and the Jewish People, and how to share Messiah with the Jewish People. The Good News is proclaimed through television, print media, humanitarian/medical outreaches, and large-scale international festivals.

More than 560,000 people have attended the vibrant Hear O’ Israel! Festivals of Jewish Music & Dance throughout Eastern Europe, India, and South America. Millions more have participated via television broadcasts. Thousands have responded to altar calls, and about one third of those who have responded have been Jewish. More than a dozen new Messianic Jewish congregations have been birthed in the former Soviet Union through these outreaches. JVMI also partners with several other Messianic ministries to establish and operate Messianic Jewish Bible Institutes around the world to train leaders for Jewish ministry.

The lost and scattered tribes of Israel are of particular interest to Jonathan and Jewish Voice. A prophetic sign of redemption, as God is revealing these enigmatic peoples from Ethiopia to Eastern India, Jewish Voice has mobilized to reach out with essential humanitarian and medical provision, as God’s arm extended in the love of their Messiah. This is a very exciting and rewarding area of ministry, particularly close to Jonathan’s heart as these are the poorest Jewish communities on the earth.

A sought-after speaker, Jonathan also teaches at seminars and in conferences worldwide. He is a prominent leader in the Messianic movement and is a passionate supporter of Israel. He is the author of A Rabbi Looks at Jesus of Nazareth.

Jonathan is the founding Rabbi of Congregation Shema Yisrael in Rochester, New York, where he served as Senior Messianic Rabbi from 1984 to 1993. He also founded and pastored the Messianic Center of St. Petersburg, Russia, where he lived and ministered from 1993 to 1997.

Jonathan and his wife, Elisangela, are the parents of two daughters, Liel and Hannah, and reside in Phoenix, Arizona.

Ted Pearce Interview-3

What a thrill to have Ted Pearce live in the studio!   Today I featured some of my favorite songs and we had a great chat.

Ted Pearce is an extremely talented Messianic recording artist and songwriter. He has been apart of the movement since 1990 and has been gifting the movement with powerful, uplifting worship music almost ever since.

Ted hails from Beaumont, Texas and was a staunch atheist. He has been on the music scene in general for years, beginning with southern rock and playing in bars in clubs. He came to faith after reading the Bible in order to try and prove it wrong, needless to say, the Ruach HaKodesh took control of his life from there.

He has performed his Messianic music all over the United States, Israel and Europe. Touched by the work of the March of Life, a holocaust memorial march that began in Germany, Ted founded its sister-effort the March of Remembrance in the United States, which has now spread all across the country.

Rich Freeman Interview

Another great testimony on today's show!   Dr. Richard Freeman of Chosen People Ministries shares his testimony!

Richard Freeman was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York into a very traditionally Jewish, though not religious, family. He did, however, receive religious training for five years in a conservative synagogue and received his Bar Mitzvah at age thirteen. Following that experience, though staunchly Jewish nationalistically, he drifted away from the synagogue and attended only on the special Jewish holidays.

In 1973 Rich married Julia DeBellis who was from an Italian Catholic background. It was primarily through Julia’s spiritual pilgrimage that God reached Rich. But first Rich met a born-again Christian, his supervisor at work. Though Rich responded angrily at first to this man's sharing his faith, his life was a wonderful testimony of the peace and joy that comes to those who put their faith and trust in the Lord. The joy in his life made Rich jealous and opened his heart to what was to come.

In August 1982, Julia accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and immediately began praying for her husband!s salvation. In January 1983, God answered that prayer. Through the ministry of Chosen People Ministries, Rich heard and responded to the Gospel message and accepted Yeshua as his Lord and Savior. Immediately, God gave him a hunger to know Him and His Word intimately. He immersed himself in the Bible and was discipled by his pastor. In the summer of 1987 Rich and Julia responded to God's call and moved to Dallas, Texas where Rich attended Dallas Theological Seminary. While in Dallas, Rich worked as a missionary with Chosen People Ministries. Before finishing the degree program at Dallas, Rich was called to pastor the congregation where he was saved, Light of Israel Messianic Congregation. He became pastor of that congregation in December 1989. In April 1994, Rich also became pastor of Dunwoodie Baptist Church in Yonkers, New York, which is where Light of Israel’s services were held. So, for five years of his ten- year pastorate he enjoyed the unique challenge of pastoring two congregations.

Rich and Julia have three children, Heather, Brian and Joel. They also have two grandsons, Cody and Carrington. On July 1, 1999 Rich assumed his position as Vice-President and Director of Church Ministries and Conferences for Chosen People Ministries. Rich works with churches throughout the country and abroad. Rich teaches Bible Conferences on various topics such as Jewish Evangelism, Messianic Prophecy, End-Time Prophecy, The Church and Israel, The Feasts of Israel, and much more. He also ministers to local churches in Florida where he and his family reside. Rich finished his studies begun in Dallas, at Conservative Baptist Seminary of the East, where he received his M.Div., in September 1994. Rich received his D.Min. at Gordon-Conwell Seminary in 2004.

You will also enjoy the music of Jonathan Settel, Ted Pearce, The Schleps, Joshua Aaron, Greg Silverman and Natasha Kraus-Reynolds.

Joseph Greenberg Interview

You'll love this one!   I had a fun time interviewing Joseph Greenberg.   This young man is on fire for the L-rd!

Joseph is the Operations Manager at the Messianic Jewish Family Bible Society.  He grew up in upstate NY, the son of Rabbi & Rebbitzin Mark and Daniah Greenberg.  He knew Yeshua from an early age - it seemed perfectly normal to him.

His faith grew deeper when attending a church in Rome, NY (near Syracuse) where his father was a guest speaker.  During praise and worship he felt a joy he had never experienced before.  At that moment he wanted some of that joy for himself.   He walked away to have a talk with God and from that moment on his faith and joy increased tremendously!

Joseph loves working with his family at the Messianic Jewish Family Bible Society.  His mother, Daniah is the CEO, his father Mark is Chairman of the Board, his sister Mandy is the Administrative Assistant and Joseph's wife Brittni is Head of Marketing.   As Operations Manager Joseph oversees the placement of Bibles (Bibles are given to prisons, students, pastors, etc), and is in charge of logistics.

The Society has produced the TLV (Tree of Life Version) of the Bible, as well as the Messianic Jewish Family Bible.  Joseph explains the difference between these Bibles in an exciting and informative interview.   Both Bibles can be ordered on Amazon.

"To be able to bring G-d's Word to the world - this is truly my passion," Joseph said at the end of our interview.

Denise Spinos Interview

This originally aired in May of 2015 but never made it to my podcast.   So better late than never!

Deinise Spinos is a product of a Russian-Orthodox Jewish father and a German Lutheran mother, this vibrant, energetic psalmist truly is Ephesians 2:15... One New Man.

Her life is an open book as she shares her testimony. Growing up in a perfectionistic, rage-filled home, she learned early that she would never be "good enough". Hating herself, by the age of 12, she was well on her way to many years of addictive and destructive behaviors.

God in his inimitable grace and mercy delivered her from alcoholism, drug-addiction, smoking, codependent relationships, eating disorders, workaholism and more.

In constant gratitude, the joy of the Lord is her strength  An exuberant, joy-filled, fervent worshipper, Denise has been given a unique gift. As God brings her through situations. He gives her songs of victory and deliverance.

Her songs such as "Grace thru' Faith" and "Rejoice" have brought people to salvation. Others have brought healing and joy. As she has embraced her Jewish roots, "One New Man", a powerful message to the Church has been birthed.

Denise ministers in story and song to bring God's love, healing and encouragement that will uplift you, bless you and bring you joy!

Enjpy the music of Sally Klein O'Connor, Jonathan Settel, Nate Benjamin, Craig Taubman, the Schleps and Sharon Wilbur!

Gillian Mayer Interview

Today I had the privilege of interviewing Gillian Mayer.   Here is her story:

******************************************************************

I grew up in a Conservative Jewish household in Coney Island, NY. I remember, very early, seeing flyers posted under the elevated train lines that said Jews For Jesus and asking my mother what those meant. She very sternly told me that those were not for us and we never discussed it again.

We weren't particularly observant, but we were Jewish! Family gathered for all holidays and there was some semblance of ritual, yet we never attended Shul. I was given the choice of Hebrew lessons or music lessons and the obvious choice for me was music. I didn't really know what being a Bat Mitzvah meant, but it sounded boring and I was going to be a musician.

My parents decided to move to Houston, TX, so off we went. Leaving our extended family behind, we also left what little observance we still enjoyed behind. We still had holiday dinners, but they weren't the same. My father refused to join any of the synagogues here because he believed that all they wanted was his money. I did manage to fall in with a Jewish crowd and assumed that I would marry a Jewish man, but when I met the man I was to marry, he wasn't Jewish.

We married and were okay until we had children. We had agreed that we would teach them everything, but something in me changed. My children were not setting foot in a church. Through a friend, we learned about a congregation where Jewish people and gentile people worshipped together. I agreed to go.

At first, I thought these people were all nuts. There was a band and dancing, but G-d knew what he was doing. I was being drawn in by the music. I found myself singing along, but when we came to "that word" I would skip it. I started reading my husband's bible and thought they were nice stories. That changed to I suppose this could be true and finally to how could this not be true. I was thirty years old when I realized that this Name that I had seen on a flyer as a child was, in fact, for me.

You'll also enjoy the music of Corry Bell & Lev Shelo, Nate Benjamin, Ted Pearce, Debbie Chernoff, Jonathan Settel and the Schleps!

Jeanne Nigro Interview

This week I had the privilege of interviewing Jeanne Nigro, a sweet woman of God.  Jeanne is a frequent speaker at conferences, retreats and congregations, and her blogs are featured regularly with the Messianic Times and Messianic Jewish Alliance of America (MJAA). She is the founder of Jeanne Nigro Ministries, which seeks to transform lives around the world through a more intimate relationship with God. The ministry provides teaching and tools to enable believers to receive healing from the lies they have believed about God and themselves, so that they can experience more of His love, wisdom and power in their life.

Prior to her teaching ministry, Jeanne worked in the corporate world for seventeen years as an organizational change consultant. Jeanne and her family reside in Plano, Texas and attend both Bat Zion Messianic Congregation and Prestonwood Baptist Church. Her passion in ministry comes from the healing work that God has done in her own life and her desire to share what she has learned and experienced with others.
Whether she is bringing truths to life from Tanakh, healing strongholds of the heart or preparing believers for the Millennium, her teachings are relevant, practical and life-transforming. Jeanne propels her audiences into an excitement and readiness for Yeshua's return and fosters an experience of greater intimacy with Him. She is passionate about mobilizing the body of Messiah out of their state of fear, passivity and apathy during these uncertain times and into action and purpose. Jeanne's latest book, "Unafraid in these End Times," will be released by Destiny Image in August, 2016.

Paul Wilbur, a well-known Integrity Recording Artist, had this to say about Jeanne, "Healing of the inner man is a life mission for Jeanne Nigro. She has invested many years of research together with volumes of solid Biblical instruction to produce the life-changing teachings she now brings. I have personally attended her classes and have witnessed the eager involvement and results of hurting people. I highly recommend Jeanne and her insights to anyone desiring to walk away from the past and move into freedom".

Kyra Goldman Interview

Wow!   Always fun to find a new recording artist!   This young lady is going places fast!

Having grown up in a family of artists, musicians, writers and teachers, Kyra began writing stories and songs from a young age. Her unique and thoughtful style has been influenced by genres from folk/rock and jazz to bossa nova and reggae—but the greatest influence on Kyra’s music has been her relationship with The Lord.

Growing up in a Christian home, Kyra always felt a pull towards her Jewish side and to the nation of Israel. At age sixteen she began her own search for God and began reading the Bible for herself. She found that the Words were able to penetrate to the spirit and that they were life and Truth. As Kyra moved into a personal relationship with the Lord, her lyrics began to flow from a changed heart.

Since then, Kyra Goldman has gone on to accomplish some amazing things in her career. She won first place in songwriting at the Babbie Mason Music Conference; she has co-written with songwriters from the Universal Music Publishing Group in Nashville; recorded three demos; released 2 music videos and recently published her debut album, “By the Light”, which was produced by Tony Wray of the Messianic Hip-Hop duo, Hazakim.

Kyra has also been featured on television and radio programs in the US and Europe, has traveled and performed for many conferences, festivals, churches, congregations and events around the US, and has done two European tours.

Rabbi Steve Weiler Interview

What a pleasure to chat with Rabbi Steve Weiler and learn about his faith journey!  Rabbi Steve was
born in Manhattan, New York , to Jewish parents who had escaped Austria during the Holocaust.  Living in a primarily Jewish town (Great Neck, Long Island ), he had never been aware of anyone who believed that Yeshua is the Messiah, nor had anyone share their faith with him.  But at age 18, Steve went to see the movie The Greatest Story Ever Told, and his life was changed forever. Shortly thereafter, he dedicated his life to serving the Lord.

Rabbi Steve spent his college years in Baltimore , MD where he received a Bachelors Degree in Music Education from Peabody Conservatory of Music.  Later he received a Masters Degree in Education from Johns Hopkins University while teaching at an inner-city high school for four years.  Also during this time, he was a cantor at various conservative synagogues, sang at several churches, and attended Beit HaMashiach, a Messianic Synagogue.

In 1979, after a career in sales and business, Steve moved his family to Philadelphia , PA , where he became the principal of Chalutzim Academy - a private K12 school of Congregation Beth Yeshua.  Here he also served as the chief administrator, taught various courses including "Fundamentals of Biblical Judaism", led a children's chorus group called Growing Faith, produced two Messianic children's albums, helped produce two musicals, led the youth program, and led an adult singing troupe called "Shivat Tzion" (Return of Zion) which produced two albums.

Steve was ordained as a Messianic Rabbi by the leadership of Congregation Beth Yeshua. which is under the Messianic Jewish Alliance of America (MJAA) and the International Association of Messianic Congregations and Synagogues (IAMCS).  In April 1999, he moved his family to Tampa, FL to become the rabbi of Shoresh David Messianic Synagogue.  He has always had a burden for youth, strengthening families, having unity in the Body of Believers, and to see his fellow Jewish people accept Yeshua as their Messiah.  Rabbi Steve also serves on the boards of:  The Messianic Family Bible Project, The Tampa Bay Committee To Bless Israel , Ner Tamid, and BayshoreChristian School and others.  He also served on the Executive Committee of the Messianic Jewish Alliance of America (MJAA).

Cindy Rosenthal Interview

What a blast talking to Cindy Rosenthal!  She did not inherit her belief in Yeshua as Messiah, as some who may have been born into a family of believers. A former member of the musical group Kol Simcha—Cindy Rosenthal grew up in a Jewish family.

In this interview Cindy shares about her amazing journey to faith and about the day she visited a Messianic Congregation in Pennsylvania where she first realized that Yeshua was indeed the promised Messiah spoken of in the scriptures.

Cindy currently resides in Albany, New York where she works at the Albany Medical Center, a level 1 trauma center and one of the biggest hospitals in the state. Over the past three years Cindy, herself, has been in the throes of what has often felt like level one trauma. Remodeling her life, Cindy left the arena of finance, entered the medical world and has also gone back to school.

When she is not working, studying or going to class, Cindy is most likely singing or doing volunteer work—the things she loves to do.  Music, singing to God and praising Him has recently gotten her through one of the darkest times in her life. Through every health scare and every financial trial Cindy thanks God for His presence in her life.

Lots of Kol Simcha music in this broadcast - enjoy!

Desiree Morton Interview

This week I had the privilege to interview Desiree Morton about her faith.  Born and raised in New York, Desiree has lived most of her fifty-three years of life in Rochester. She was born in Auburn, New York to parents Geraldine and Jesse Morton and after her parents divorced, Desiree and her six siblings grew up in a single parent home with mom, Geraldine.

It was one of Desiree’s five brothers, Jeffrey, who introduced the family to Jesus. The fifth born child of six, Desiree was still in high school at the time and she began attending Bethel Christian Fellowship Church.

The same would later introduce the family to Yeshua. Desiree began her journey to Torah and the Jewish people by asking herself, “What did the disciples know about Yeshua that we don’t?”

This past Sukkot, Desiree visited the land of Israel with her sister-in-law and she comments that the rest of the family is gaining knowledge and moving closer to the Jewish Yeshua and the Whole Word of God.
