Dr. Gregory Silverman Returns!

Greg’s father was a Russian-Polish Jew and his mother is Italian-American.  Greg remembers accepting Yeshua while visiting his grandmother’s church at eight years of age.

As a teenager and college student, Greg attended a wide variety of churches.  He also gained proficiency in gospel music during these years.  Greg graduated from college at the University of Massachusetts with a B.A. in both Vocal Jazz & Gospel Music as well as Psychology.

In 2001, while studying classical choral conducting for a Master’s degree at Temple University, Greg was invited by a friend to visit Congregation Beth Yeshua, one of the flagship Messianic synagogues in the United States.  From the moment he arrived, he felt spiritually as though he had “come home.”

Greg ministered full-time at Congregation Beth Yeshua from 2004-2010.  In Summer of 2010, the Silverman family moved out west to Tucson, Arizona. Greg had been accepted with full scholarship into the prestigious University of Arizona doctoral program in Choral Conducting.  Dr. Greg Silverman completed the doctoral degree in December 2013.  He served as a Music Professor and Choral Conductor at Eastern University.  Dr. Greg presently is the President of his own ministry as well as the Director of Worship Arts at Desert Hope Lutheran Church in Tucson (www.deserthope.org).  As part of his work in Silverman Ministries, Inc., Dr. Greg offers worship concerts, recordings, and training for other worship leaders and artists.  Visit https://gregsilverman.com/about/ministry to learn more about Silverman Ministries, Inc.

This is a wonderful show!   It's full of beautiful Chanukah music from Nancy Santiago, Ted Pearce, Marty Goetz, Greg Silverman and Sara Liberman.   You'll really enjoy the interview with Dr. Michael Brown.  Here is more info about him:

Since coming to faith in 1971 as a 16 year-old, heroin-shooting Jewish rock drummer, Dr. Michael Brown has devoted his life to fostering awakening in the Church, sparking moral and cultural revolution in the society, raising up gospel laborers for the nations, and reaching out to his own Jewish people. He is the host of the nationally syndicated Line of Fire radio broadcast, the president of FIRE School of Ministry, and a professor of Bible and Hebrew studies at several leading seminaries. He has a PhD in Near Eastern Languages and Literatures from New York University, has preached in more than 25 nations, and is the author of over 30 books and numerous scholarly and popular articles. Steven Shreyberg Interview

Today's show features an interview with an interesting man I met at the Messiah Conference this past July.

Steven Shreyberg was born to Russian- Jewish parents and raised in Toronto, Canada. Though God touched and revealed himself throughout Steven's life, it wasn't until Ma rch, 2012 that he finally began walking with God and received Yeshua the Messiah. Today, he is married with a new beautiful baby girl and serves at City of David Messianic synagogue in Toronto, Canada.

Greg Silverman Interview-2

What a joy to have another great interview with Dr. Greg Silverman!   Today I featured some new songs from his CD "I Am," which was just released!   You will be so blessed!

Dr. Greg Silverman brings the Message of Yeshua, Jesus, to both Jews and Gentiles through his anointed worship leading, worship seminars, and teachings on the Jewish roots of the faith. Greg’s love and enthusiasm for Yeshua, Jesus, and for God’s people are evident in every teaching, concert, choral workshop, and speaking presentation he gives.

Greg’s father is a Russian-Polish Jew and his mother is Italian-American. Greg gained an interesting perspective on both Christianity and Judaism from growing up in an interfaith home. Greg remembers accepting Yeshua while visiting his grandmother’s church at eight years of age. Praise the LORD for a praying grandmother! As a teenager and college student, he attended a wide variety of churches. Greg also gained proficiency in gospel music during these years. By the time he graduated from college at the University of Massachusetts with a B.A. in both Vocal Jazz & Gospel Music as well as Psychology, Greg had one foot with the LORD but the other in worldly living. In Spring 2000, Greg began to point his life wholeheartedly toward God. Greg was hired as an assistant music director to well-known gospel musician, Ron Metcalf, in New York City. Ron did more than just make use of Greg’s musical gifts and talents; he took Greg under his wing spiritually by praying for and counseling him. Ron encouraged him to seek out the Jewish people who knew Jesus. Little did Greg know that there even was a Messianic Jewish movement, let alone that God would one day call he and his wife into full-time ministry. Within a year, Greg had rededicated his life to the LORD at his mother’s church. Immediately, God was making the dry bones in his life live!

In 2001, while studying classical choral conducting for a Master’s degree at Temple University, Greg was invited by a friend to visit Congregation Beth Yeshua, one of the flagship Messianic synagogues in the United States. From the moment he arrived, he felt spiritually as though he had “come home.” That first night at Beth Yeshua, the synagogue was particularly packed due to the special concert that night. When the guest artist was announced, Greg had a flashback and realized that he had seen this artist on a video that his grandmother had sent him several years prior. Although uninterested at the time, watching that video had impacted him, and it was very possibly the first time that Greg had seen a Messianic Jewish musician. So, Greg was overwhelmed to realize that his first time in Beth Yeshua was actually a concert of the same Marty Goetz that was in the video. What a “God-incidence!” Within a year of joining the synagogue, he met his beautiful wife, Rosa, who had been in the congregation for several years prior to Greg’s arrival. Greg and Rosa have joyfully become a quartet together with their two wonderful sons!

Greg ministered full-time at Congregation Beth Yeshua from 2004-2010. In Summer of 2010, the Silverman family moved out west to Tucson, Arizona where Greg had been accepted with scholarship into the prestigious University of Arizona doctoral program in Choral Conducting.  Greg completed the doctoral degree in December 2013. He served as a Music Professor and Choral Conductor at Eastern University. Greg presently is the President of his own ministries. The purpose of Silverman Ministries, Inc. (501c3 charitable organization) is to: 1) Share the Good News of Yeshua, Jesus, with both Jews and Gentiles, 2) Lead excellent praise and worship both live and through media, 3) Train and equip other musicians and worship artists, and 4) Connect the Messianic Movement and the Church.

Greg has ministered throughout America and internationally, and he has been a worship leader at the national MJAA Messiah Conferences for over a decade.  Broadcast appearances include TBN, Daystar, and the Inspiration Network. Live performances have occurred at Carnegie Hall, The White House, and Giant Stadium. Greg released his first full-length album of original Messianic Jewish Music entitled Dry Bones in 2004, Revive in 2007, and singles since. The ministry also released a brief documentary movie about a piece of Hebrew classical choral music and Greg’s experience as a choral conductor, Sacred.

Rabbi Ron Goldberg 2016

How exciting to have my dear friend Rabbi Ron Goldberg back in the studio!

He's definitely one of my favorite guests!   Ron was raised in a Jewish family in New York City. He began sneaking out to church during his senior year of High School. A friend then gave him the “forbidden” New Testament to read and Ron soon discovered that Jesus really is the Jewish Messiah. After coming to faith in Messiah Yeshua (Jesus) his parents thought about having a funeral for him, instead they sent him to a rabbi for deprogramming and intensive counseling!

Ron's relationship with his parents was very difficult for several years but giving them grandchildren helped restore their relationship. Ron and his wife Vinu are an inter-faith couple with 5 children.

For 31 years Ron has served at Messianic Congregations and spoken at churches and Bible study groups teaching Christians about the Jewish roots of our faith and how to share the Good News of the Messiah with Jewish people.

Rich Freeman Interview

Another great testimony on today's show!   Dr. Richard Freeman of Chosen People Ministries shares his testimony!

Richard Freeman was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York into a very traditionally Jewish, though not religious, family. He did, however, receive religious training for five years in a conservative synagogue and received his Bar Mitzvah at age thirteen. Following that experience, though staunchly Jewish nationalistically, he drifted away from the synagogue and attended only on the special Jewish holidays.

In 1973 Rich married Julia DeBellis who was from an Italian Catholic background. It was primarily through Julia’s spiritual pilgrimage that God reached Rich. But first Rich met a born-again Christian, his supervisor at work. Though Rich responded angrily at first to this man's sharing his faith, his life was a wonderful testimony of the peace and joy that comes to those who put their faith and trust in the Lord. The joy in his life made Rich jealous and opened his heart to what was to come.

In August 1982, Julia accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and immediately began praying for her husband!s salvation. In January 1983, God answered that prayer. Through the ministry of Chosen People Ministries, Rich heard and responded to the Gospel message and accepted Yeshua as his Lord and Savior. Immediately, God gave him a hunger to know Him and His Word intimately. He immersed himself in the Bible and was discipled by his pastor. In the summer of 1987 Rich and Julia responded to God's call and moved to Dallas, Texas where Rich attended Dallas Theological Seminary. While in Dallas, Rich worked as a missionary with Chosen People Ministries. Before finishing the degree program at Dallas, Rich was called to pastor the congregation where he was saved, Light of Israel Messianic Congregation. He became pastor of that congregation in December 1989. In April 1994, Rich also became pastor of Dunwoodie Baptist Church in Yonkers, New York, which is where Light of Israel’s services were held. So, for five years of his ten- year pastorate he enjoyed the unique challenge of pastoring two congregations.

Rich and Julia have three children, Heather, Brian and Joel. They also have two grandsons, Cody and Carrington. On July 1, 1999 Rich assumed his position as Vice-President and Director of Church Ministries and Conferences for Chosen People Ministries. Rich works with churches throughout the country and abroad. Rich teaches Bible Conferences on various topics such as Jewish Evangelism, Messianic Prophecy, End-Time Prophecy, The Church and Israel, The Feasts of Israel, and much more. He also ministers to local churches in Florida where he and his family reside. Rich finished his studies begun in Dallas, at Conservative Baptist Seminary of the East, where he received his M.Div., in September 1994. Rich received his D.Min. at Gordon-Conwell Seminary in 2004.

You will also enjoy the music of Jonathan Settel, Ted Pearce, The Schleps, Joshua Aaron, Greg Silverman and Natasha Kraus-Reynolds.

Rabbi Steve Weiler Interview

What a pleasure to chat with Rabbi Steve Weiler and learn about his faith journey!  Rabbi Steve was
born in Manhattan, New York , to Jewish parents who had escaped Austria during the Holocaust.  Living in a primarily Jewish town (Great Neck, Long Island ), he had never been aware of anyone who believed that Yeshua is the Messiah, nor had anyone share their faith with him.  But at age 18, Steve went to see the movie The Greatest Story Ever Told, and his life was changed forever. Shortly thereafter, he dedicated his life to serving the Lord.

Rabbi Steve spent his college years in Baltimore , MD where he received a Bachelors Degree in Music Education from Peabody Conservatory of Music.  Later he received a Masters Degree in Education from Johns Hopkins University while teaching at an inner-city high school for four years.  Also during this time, he was a cantor at various conservative synagogues, sang at several churches, and attended Beit HaMashiach, a Messianic Synagogue.

In 1979, after a career in sales and business, Steve moved his family to Philadelphia , PA , where he became the principal of Chalutzim Academy - a private K12 school of Congregation Beth Yeshua.  Here he also served as the chief administrator, taught various courses including "Fundamentals of Biblical Judaism", led a children's chorus group called Growing Faith, produced two Messianic children's albums, helped produce two musicals, led the youth program, and led an adult singing troupe called "Shivat Tzion" (Return of Zion) which produced two albums.

Steve was ordained as a Messianic Rabbi by the leadership of Congregation Beth Yeshua. which is under the Messianic Jewish Alliance of America (MJAA) and the International Association of Messianic Congregations and Synagogues (IAMCS).  In April 1999, he moved his family to Tampa, FL to become the rabbi of Shoresh David Messianic Synagogue.  He has always had a burden for youth, strengthening families, having unity in the Body of Believers, and to see his fellow Jewish people accept Yeshua as their Messiah.  Rabbi Steve also serves on the boards of:  The Messianic Family Bible Project, The Tampa Bay Committee To Bless Israel , Ner Tamid, and BayshoreChristian School and others.  He also served on the Executive Committee of the Messianic Jewish Alliance of America (MJAA).

Rabbi Steve is blessed with a wonderful wife, Pat, who leads praise and worship, and is the leader of the Shoresh David sisterhood.  They have two daughters together - Rebecca, who lived in Israel and worked for God TV, and now lives in Tampa with her husband and daughter.  Sarah, who graduated from Southeastern University in 2009 and Sandford Brown in 2011 with a degree in Sonography is the manager of a pregnancy center in Tampa where she lives with her husband and soon-to-be son.

Justin Kron Interview

It was wonderful chatting with Justin Kron.   He is a second generation believer and I was intrigued by his story.  Justin became a follower of Yeshua at a young age and grew up with one foot in the Jewish world and one foot in the Christian world. He has subsequently developed a passion for acquainting Christians with the Jewish roots and heritage of the Christian faith, and to become better equipped and engaged in living an authentic faith among their Jewish friends and neighbors.

Since 1998, Justin has served as a National Ministries Representative with Chosen People Ministries and is the founder and director of experience Israel, a short-term ministry and spiritual pilgrimage program for young adults. He is also the founder and coordinator of the Kesher Forum in Chicago, an interdenominational learning community for those who are interested in learning more about Jewish culture and building bridges with their Jewish friends and neighbors.

Justin has served with the Danny Byram Ministries, a concert ministry to the U.S. military, and as an Area Manager with Promise Keepers in Chicago, where he represented the organization as the national liaison to the Messianic Jewish community. Justin studied at the Moody Theological Seminary and is a frequent contributor to various blogs and radio programs on topics related to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, historical anti-Semitism and the Jewishness of Jesus. He is a member of Willow Creek Community Church where Justin serves on the Leadership Advisory Council, and his wife, Judy, directs Women of Willow at their North Shore congregation in Northfield, Illinois.

You'll also enjoy wonderful music from Jonathan Settel, Greg Silverman, Sue Samuel, Paul Wilbur, Kathy Shooster and The Schleps!
