Ethel Chadwick Story

How did I learn about Yeshua?  In today’s broadcast I share my testimony and some original music. 

I grew up in a Jewish home in Richmond, VA and studied Hebrew for five years. I was always drawn to astrology and the occult. Even after singing Handel’s Messiah with the Richmond Symphony Chorus, I had no idea what it was all about as I had never read Isaiah 9. While attending college in Richmond, I was handed a tract that said “Jews for Jesus,” but I was scared and shocked to even look at it, and I threw it in the trash. A few years later here in Rochester, I met a lady who shared the gospel with me and I got up enough courage to look in a New Testament for the first time. I was delightfully surprised to find out that it had many references to King David and it was not anti-Semitic. I discovered that Yeshua said in Matthew 5:17 that He came to fulfill the law and not to change it and I learned that the last supper was a passover Seder and that the disciples were Jewish. I renounced and repented from participation with the occult and I accepted Yeshua into my heart in 1976. I have never looked back.

Today’s interview was taped at the Messiah Conference this past July.  Marc Vidito, from "The Smiling Sheep" interviewed me, I interviewed him as well and we also chatted with Becca Chefran from "Stones of Witness."

Marc's Bio:

Marc has been in ministry since 1995 serving the Young Messianic Jewish Alliance as conference planner, worship ministry coordinator, worship leader, percussionist, speaker, and youth mentor. He has co-led worship and the high school youth ministry with his bride, Dara, at Congregation Beth Hallel in Roswell, GA since 2002. He founded Meuchad: Messianic Worshippers United where he served as ministry director and continues to serve as senior advisor.  Recently he founded "The Smiling Sheep," and we talk about it on this interview.

Ethel shares her story of coming to faith in Yeshua also. She was raised in a Jewish home and came to faith in 1976 after a co-worker shared with her at Kodak. She was pleasantly surprised to learn that Jesus and His disciples were Jewish and that Yeshua said in Matthew 5:17 "I came to fulfill the law and the prophets, not to change it." She shared about the beginnings of Bagels and Blessings as well.

Here's my story as told to the Messianic Daily News:

Ethel Chadwick was born to Jewish parents, attended Hebrew School for 5 years and occasionally went to Synagogue. But she was always searching for the meaning of life, and astrology or numerology didn’t fulfill her. Through a series of events Ethel ended up in Rochester, NY and was introduced to the Jewish Messiah.  She was delightfully surprised to learn that the disciples were Jewish, the Last Supper was a Passover Seder and that Yeshua never intended to change religions. Her life changed forever!   Stay tuned for the rest of the story!!  Ethel and her husband Daniel live in Western NY and are the proud parents of 3 amazing young adults. They recently became grandparents and covet your prayers for their granddaughter Zoey as she prepares to be discharged from the NICU where she has been since her birth in September 12.
